The Soldiers Memorial Military Museum is owned by the City of St. Louis and is under the authority of the Board of Public Service of the City of Saint Louis. Today, the Soldiers Memorial honors all veterans and active military from St. Louis.
There is a large black anchor and chain from the U.S.S. Langley that is a memorial to the Merchant Marines that was dedicated in 2004. Currently the City of St. Louis, Missouri History Museum and the Missouri Historical Society are overseeing a massive renovation to the site.

June 2018 – St. Louis’s Soldiers Memorial Military Museum will celebrate a grand reopening with a state-of-the-art, newly renovated facility in November 2018.
